Terms of Use

1. Who provides the service

TopChess.org is built and maintained by MB «Didysis Uvis» (company code 306171356), operating under the UVIS brand (uvis.pro). Contact: hi@topchess.org.

2. What we offer

On this site you can play chess against the computer and against other players, solve puzzles, learn openings, traps and endgames, join tournaments, play memory games and the Durak card game, and take part in the ChessChan forum. Everything is free. We charge nothing, have no paid plans, and show no advertising.

3. Your account

• Most features work without registering. An account is only needed to keep your progress, XP and results.
• You can register with an email address or through your Google account.
• Please give a working email address – you will need it to recover your account.
• You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for anything done through your account. Tell us immediately if you notice unauthorised access.
• One account per person. Extra accounts created to get around restrictions or inflate ratings may be removed.
• You can delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

4. Rules of conduct

When using the site, you agree to:

• play fair – no chess engines, bots or other outside help in games against people;
• not lose on purpose, disrupt games, or artificially inflate ratings for yourself or others;
• respect others – no spam, threats, insults, hate speech or discriminatory content;
• not upload illegal, pornographic or violent content, or anyone else's intellectual property;
• not attempt to break the site, bypass restrictions, overload the server with automated requests, or access other users' data;
• not use the site for anything that breaks the law.

5. Your content

Forum posts, drills and other content you create remain yours. By posting them on the site you give us a royalty-free right to display and store them here so that the site can function. We may remove content that breaks these terms without notice.

6. Breaking the rules

If you break these terms we may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or permanently ban your account. In serious cases (cheating in games, attacks on the site) we may do so without prior warning. If you believe a ban was unjustified, write to hi@topchess.org and we will review it.

7. Availability

We try to keep the site running at all times, but this is a free hobby service and we give no uptime guarantees (no SLA). The site may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates or failures. We may change, add or remove any feature.

8. No warranties

The site is provided «as is», without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will work without errors or interruptions, that the learning material is free of inaccuracies, or that your data will never be lost. We recommend saving any games that matter to you yourself.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for lost time, data, XP, rating or achievements arising from using or being unable to use the site. As the service is free, our financial liability is limited to the minimum permitted by law. These limits do not apply where liability cannot be limited under mandatory law (for example, intent, or harm to life and health).

10. Intellectual property

The site's code, design, logo and content (other than user content and open-source components, which are distributed under their own licences) belong to us. You may use them only in the ways the site provides for.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will announce material changes on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it. If you do not accept it, please stop using the site – you may delete your account.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Lithuania. We prefer to resolve disputes by email first – write to hi@topchess.org. If that fails, disputes are settled by the courts of the Republic of Lithuania. If you are a consumer, you keep all rights granted to you by consumer protection law, including the right to contact your national consumer protection authority.
